  • LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser Hair Removal (LHR) is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair from various places on the body.

Hair follicles are destroyed when we apply broad-spectrum light to the surface of your skin. The energy travels safely through the layers of your skin until it strikes the hair follicle, which contains the melanin-rich hair shaft and bulb. As the melanin absorbs the light, it rises in temperature, destroying the hair-producing cells around the follicle. Since the heat is not sustained, the outside follicle area remains intact. Treatments are quick and virtually painless and can usually be performed over a lunch break.

Laser hair removal works best on those with dark, coarse hair and a fair complexion. However, people without this combination can still get great results.

At Healthy Life Primary Care, we treat a variety of skin types and complexions, including those with darker skin tones. Everyone’s skin is different, which is why we will customize your treatment package during your FREE consultation to ensure you achieve the best results possible.

During the session, many compare the feeling of the laser’s pulse to the snap of a rubber band. Over the course of the next 1-3 weeks, the treated hair falls. The process requires a series of treatments, but results can be seen after just the first time, proving how effective even just the initial treatment can be. With every treatment, you’ll progressively see fewer and fewer hairs return. Finishing the entire series of treatments is crucial, as that ensures that you see the highest degree of permanent hair reduction. Stop worrying about the constant upkeep and start enjoying the freedom of silky smooth skin, year-round.

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser Hair Removal targets the hair follicles, heating the root with heat generated by a laser. The heat then kills the hair at the root, inhibiting or slowing future growth.

    Does hair removal hurt?

Most patients describe the procedure as virtually pain-free. If you are sensitive to pain, this is the hair removal process for you.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically it takes 4 to 6 treatments to remove the hair, waiting 3 to 8 weeks between treatments.

    Are there any side effects?

Some redness and slight swelling may occur in the area treated afterward. As long as the area is kept clean and a high SPF sunscreen is worn while outdoors, side effects should be minimal.

If I tan my skin, can I still go through with the procedure?

Yes, we can treat tanned skin, as long as the active tan is MORE than 3 weeks old.  It is not recommended to have laser hair removal if you have an active tan from artificial or real sunlight that is less than 3 weeks old.
